Vitamins in action
We all know about vitamins, but what does ‘antioxidant’ mean? Let’s find out with an experiment in the kitchen.
Do you know why when you leave an apple slice on the table it starts, shortly after, to change its colour? The oxygen in the air activates a particular enzyme which determines the degradation of the fruit changing its colour to a darker one.

To avoid it we need the help of particular fruits: oranges and lemons can protect the apple, just like they do with our organism.
To see how, let’s cut two slices of an apple and squeeze only one with either orange or lemon juice. After a few minutes the slice without juice will get darker while the other with juice won’t change.
Magic? No, it’s the power of vitamins!
